ICYMI: Shaheen Welcomes NH Vendors for 13th Experience New Hampshire Reception in Washington, DC

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) welcomed the 13th Experience New Hampshire reception, where Granite State businesses, restaurants and vendors from around the state showcased their products and services, including furniture, beverages and specialty foods, for policymakers and government officials in Washington. Photos from the reception can be found here.

“While it’s no secret that the Granite State is home to some of the greatest small businesses in the country, it’s always exciting to have them in Washington where legislators and fellow entrepreneurs can see it for themselves,” said Senator Shaheen. “Bringing these business leaders together in one room highlights the broad diversity of goods and services that are the backbone of New Hampshire’s economy. Thank you to the New Hampshire State Society for hosting this incredible event and to the participating vendors who shared their time and expertise with all those in attendance, making the event a resounding success!”

At the Experience New Hampshire reception, guests enjoyed gourmet food and drinks from culinary training programs, specialty food makers, vineyards and breweries from across the state, while also learning more about the culture and tourism opportunities in New Hampshire. The event, which took place in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building, drew attendees including the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) – alongside other members and federal government officials. Other notable attendees included Marty the Moose and Kodak the Bear.

Participating businesses included Lickee’s & Chewy’s Candies & Creamery, Lakes Region Community College, Granite State Candy Shoppe, Dancing Lion Chocolate, New England Sweetwater Farm & Distillery, Echo Farm Puddings, Port City Pretzels, High Liner Foods, The Spicy Shark, the New Hampshire Food Bank, Appolo Vineyards, Great North Aleworks, Throwback Brewery, Stoneface Brewing Co., Rockingham Brewing Company, New Hampshire Travel and Tourism, White Mountain Attractions Association and more.

Earlier in the day, Shaheen and the Business & Industry Association of New Hampshire hosted the annual New Hampshire Business Day luncheon with Granite State small business leaders, providing them an opportunity to hear directly from government leaders and key congressional officials about federal programs and agencies that offer support to businesses. Speakers at the luncheon included U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, U.S. Department of Defense Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hick, U.S. National Science Foundation Director Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, U.S. Department of State Deputy Secretary Kurt Campbell and U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS).
