Shaheen touts Small Business Saturday in Newmarket

NEWMARKET — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen visited several small businesses in downtown Newmarket earlier this week, including Lana’s House, the Painted Peach and Good Juju by Ceci, to highlight Small Business Saturday taking place Nov. 25. Small Business Saturday is meant to encourage shoppers to buy from and support local small businesses. Shaheen is the lead Democrat on the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

“We were so honored to have Sen. Jeanne Shaheen come to Newmarket and show her support of the shop small efforts in our community,“said Lisa Keslar, president of the Newmarket Business Association and secretary for the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, and a small business owner herself. “Supporting local is so important to building communities with thriving downtown areas. All three businesses that Sen. Shaheen visited are key contributors to building Newmarket’s #shopsmall campaign for Saturday - and year round. We hope the attention being brought to this day will remind shoppers to support local retailers, restaurants and service providers who depend on this time of year for their business’s success”

The Newmarket Business Association is working in conjunction with the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and Celebrate Durham, two organizations who also have strong #ShopSmall initiative to promote a Route 101 road trip for a broader shopping experience. “Make a day of it. Come, eat, drink and shop your way through our wonderful communities full of great places to kick off your holiday season,” added Keslar.
