Shaheen Joins Congressional Delegation to Munich Security Conference
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, will join a bipartisan congressional delegation to participate in the 2023 Munich Security Conference (MSC). The MSC is widely considered the world’s leading forum for international security policy. The conference is a “marketplace of ideas” where initiatives and solutions are developed and opinions are exchanged. It also provides a venue for diplomatic initiatives and ideas to cooperatively address the world’s most pressing security concerns.
Shaheen will participate in a panel entitled Show of Force or Just for Show? Fostering Resilience in Europe’s North-East, as well as bilateral meetings with allies and partner nations and other conference events.
“From Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine to an escalation in provocation from China – there is no shortage of national security issues to address with fellow U.S. lawmakers and our allies this weekend,” said Shaheen. “I look forward to engaging with our partners in person to discuss both our shared challenges and goals, and to further strengthen our bonds. I’m glad to be part of this bipartisan delegation to send an important message to the global community that while it doesn’t always make the headlines, there continues to be a lot of common ground between Democrats and Republicans in the United States, especially on issues of national security.”
