SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King Day:

“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. inspired and motivated our country with his message of equality and justice for all Americans, and his message is as important today as ever. As a high school teacher in Mississippi during integration, I witnessed firsthand the damaging consequences of discrimination and intolerance, but I also witnessed just how powerful Dr. King’s efforts were to changing our country for the better. One of my proudest days as Governor was when I signed into law a bill making Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a state holiday. Today I join people across New Hampshire in honoring Dr. King’s legacy with a renewed commitment to his dream of justice and equality for all.”
