After Successful Refueling Test, Shaheen Applauds Progress on KC-46A Refueling Tankers

(Washington, DC)— Today, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) welcomed the news that Boeing and the U.S. Air Force successfully completed a lengthy refueling flight with the KC-46A Pegasus aerial tanker on Sunday. The KC-46A is scheduled to be based at the Pease Air National Guard Base by February of 2018.

“This successful test is a big step forward for the KC-46A program,” said Shaheen. “I’m very proud of the work the New Hampshire Air National Guard has done to prepare for the new refueling tankers. This development will help keep the new tankers’ arrival at Pease on schedule. I want to congratulate Boeing and the Air Force on their progress and look forward to working with them to maintain the tankers’ 2018 delivery.”

Senator Shaheen was instrumental in securing the Pease Air National Guard base as the main operating base of the KC-46A.  As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee, she has also helped provide financial certainty for the KC-46A program.
