FRIDAY IN CONCORD: SHAHEEN TO HOST ROUNDTABLE ON PREGNANT WORKERS FAIRNESS ACT

During the afternoon in Meredith Shaheen to visit Hermit Woods Winery to promote New Hampshire tourism season
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will host a roundtable discussion on the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act at 10:00 a.m. in Concord. Shaheen will be joined by members of the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, General Electric and other stakeholders to discuss her bill to ensure that pregnant women are not forced out of jobs unnecessarily or denied reasonable job modifications that would allow them to continue work during pregnancy.
Later, Shaheen will discuss American Government and civics with approximately 75 ninth grade students at 11:30 a.m. at Belmont High School. Shaheen will discuss her experiences and take questions about her time as a member of the New Hampshire State Senate, Governor and United States Senator.
In the afternoon, Shaheen will visit Hermit Woods Winery in Meredith at 2:15 p.m. to discuss New Hampshire’s tourism industry. Tourism is one of New Hampshire’s largest industries. Direct spending by people visiting New Hampshire was $4.48 billion in 2012 producing more than $151 million in revenue for the state through meals and rooms taxes. Later this month, Hermit Woods Winery will be participating in the 6th Annual Experience New Hampshire in Washington D.C.
