LONDONDERRY MARCHING BAND SELECTED TO REPRESENT NEW HAMPSHIRE AT PRESIDENTIAL PARADE

(Washington, D.C.) – After representing New Hampshire in the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Londonderry High School Marching Lancer Band is returning to Washington for an encore performance. The Marching Lancers were selected today to represent the Granite State in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade on January 21, 2013 in Washington.

Senator Shaheen sent a letter this October to the Presidential Inaugural Committee in support of the Marching Lancers’ application.

“The Londonderry High School Marching Lancer Band has performed across the globe and has served as terrific ambassadors for New Hampshire,” Shaheen said. “I look forward to welcoming them back to Washington and am confident that they will bring the spirit of the Granite State to our nation’s capital.”

"The Londonderry High School Marching Lancers are proud to be able to represent the state of New Hampshire in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Parade," said Andy Soucy, Director of the Londonderry High School Marching Band. “This honor is also an opportunity to showcase the value of music education in our state as we represent its many fine high school programs and we are grateful for the support of Senator Shaheen."

Along with performing in Washington, the Lancers have also toured Beijing, China, represented New Hampshire in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade four times and travel annually to New York City to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
