(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) met with two recipients of visas through the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program Tuesday to discuss extending the program so that the United States can keep its promise to those individuals who served alongside American troops overseas. Senator Shaheen and U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) have led efforts to extend and reform the SIV program.
The Special Immigrant Visa Program provides visas to Iraqis and Afghans who have provided faithful and valuable service to the U.S. Government and face threats of retribution from terrorist groups as a result.
