Shaheen Announces Federal Grant for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Training Facility in Concord
**$360,000 will be used for upgrades and improvements for public safety facility that serves entire Northeast region**
(Washington, DC)—This afternoon, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) announced a $360,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Training Facility located in Concord. This facility is operated by the New Hampshire Department of Safety and serves fire departments across the Northeast region that use it to train for aircraft emergencies. For the past year, Senator Shaheen has been working alongside the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the New Hampshire Department of Safety, and the Pease Development Authority to secure federal funding from the FAA for upgrades and improvements.
“This facility is an important public safety resource for the Northeast region,” said Senator Shaheen. “Modernizing this facility will help better prepare firefighters in New Hampshire and surrounding states for emergency situations. I’m thrilled that the FAA is finally providing this necessary funding for this valuable program.”
