SHAHEEN APPLAUDS INVESTMENT IN ENERGY EFFICIENT UPGRADES

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement about President Obama’s announcement of a $4 billion investment in energy upgrades to federal and private sector buildings:

“I applaud President Obama’s announcement today on this bold public-private partnership. With businesses and consumers across the country tightening their belts, energy efficiency is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most effective ways to save money and strengthen the economy. The bipartisan energy efficiency bill that I introduced with Senator Rob Portman would build on these initiatives, instituting a national energy efficiency strategy and saving money for consumers across the board. I hope all of Congress can come together around this bipartisan, effective plan.”

Shaheen has introduced bipartisan energy efficiency legislation, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2011, which would create jobs and save money for consumers and businesses by establishing a national energy efficiency strategy.
