SHAHEEN APPOINTED TO U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY BOARD

(Washington, DC)— U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will serve on the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Naval Academy which provides broad oversight for morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, equipment, fiscal affairs and other matters. Shaheen was appointed this week by Vice President Joe Biden.

“It’s hard to overstate the importance of our military service academies as they prepare the next generation of leaders to defend our country,” said Shaheen. “It is an honor to assist in oversight of the U.S. Naval Academy. This institution has a rich and storied history, and a reputation as one of the most esteemed academic institutions in our country. I look forward to working with the Members of the Board to ensure that the Academy has the necessary resources it needs, and maintains the highest standards of character, academics and military training for its midshipmen.”

Senator Shaheen is a Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee.
