SHAHEEN, AYOTTE ENCOURAGED BY BIPARTISAN COMPROMISE TO FIX VA SYSTEM, EXPAND ACCESS TO CARE FOR VETERANS

(Washington, DC) – New Hampshire U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) released the following statement on the tentative bipartisan agreement announced by Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), expand veterans’ access to health care, and make it easier to fire VA officials for misconduct:

“We are encouraged by the framework of this bipartisan agreement and are looking forward to reviewing the legislation when finalized. Our veterans deserve nothing less than timely and accessible care and we will continue to work across the aisle to implement necessary reforms at the VA in order to deliver on that promise.”
