SHAHEEN HOSTS NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESSES IN WASHINGTON FOR A SHOWCASE OF THE BEST OF THE GRANITE STATE
Max the Moose delights guests at third annual Experience New Hampshire reception
(Washington, DC) – Alongside samples of New Hampshire’s finest food and drink, and a seven-foot-tall moose, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and the New Hampshire State Society hosted more than 20 New Hampshire businesses during the third annual Experience New Hampshire reception, an event highlighting the unique offerings of the Granite State.
More than 450 attendees had the chance to sample a wide variety of gourmet dishes and drinks from the state’s restaurants and hotels, including maple-sugar-cured brook trout and chocolate-moose lollipops. Shaheen and other attendees also toured a wide array of displays, including a First in the Nation Primary exhibit prepared by Saint Anselm College’s Institute of Politics and an exhibit featuring a Segway Personal Transporter. Participants also had the chance to take photographs with a seven-foot-tall stuffed moose named Max and an eight-foot-tall stuffed bear named Kodak.
“I love hosting Experience New Hampshire because it gives me a chance to highlight the amazing food and hospitality our state offers,” said Shaheen. “It’s a great way to let Washington learn about many of our state’s wonderful businesses and to encourage a new crop of tourists to come ‘experience New Hampshire’ firsthand. I am grateful to the New Hampshire State Society and all the groups that helped make this event a success.”
“Experience New Hampshire is a great event that celebrates New Hampshire’s diverse cultural, business and recreational offerings,” said Jeff Rose, President of the New Hampshire State Society. “We are confident that tonight’s attendees will soon travel to the Granite State to be a part of our strong New Hampshire tradition. A big thank you to Senator Shaheen for leading the effort to make this event happen.”
Earlier in the day, Shaheen hosted more than 100 members of New Hampshire’s business community at the second-annual New Hampshire Business Day. The event gave New Hampshire business leaders an opportunity to come to Capitol Hill and hear from key players about federal programs and agencies that support, regulate and offer research and technical assistance to businesses.
The Experience New Hampshire reception was held on Wednesday, June 6th in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Russell Senate Office Building. Guests included U.S. Senators and Representatives, federal government officials and Washington-based event and meeting planners. The event was hosted by the New Hampshire State Society, along with BAE Systems, Comcast, FairPoint Communications, Fidelity Investments, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Marriott International, Inc. and Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH).
