SHAHEEN: HOUSE BUDGET NOT RESPONSIBLE

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement in response to the House of Representatives budget plan, expected to pass today:

“The budget under consideration in the U.S. House today is not a comprehensive or responsible approach to deficit reduction. To meaningfully tackle our long term deficits and debt, defense spending and revenues must be addressed as well. In addition, it is irresponsible to privatize Medicare, shifting billions of dollars in health care costs to seniors while doing nothing to reduce the fundamental cost of care.”
