SHAHEEN MEETS WITH FEDERAL RESERVE CHAIR NOMINEE JANET YELLEN

(Washington, DC)- U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) this evening met with Janet Yellen, Vice Chair, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and Federal Reserve Chair nominee.  Nominated by President Obama earlier this year to replace outgoing Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Yellen was approved by the Senate Banking Committee by a vote of 14-8 in November.  Shaheen and Yellen discussed issues critical to New Hampshire including the importance of economic growth and job creation efforts as well as the need for proper financial regulations to protect taxpayers.
