SHAHEEN SECURES $130,000 TO ASSIST SMALL BUSINESSES IN THE MONADNOCK REGION
Funding will support renovation and expansion of the Hannah Grimes Center in Keene
(Washington, D.C.)-U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen announced today that her request to support the renovation and expansion of small business incubator space in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire has been approved by the Senate and is expected to be signed into law by President Obama later this week. Shaheen secured $130,000, as part of the Fiscal Year 2010 Omnibus Appropriations bill, for the Hannah Grimes Center to upgrade to their award-winning business support facility in Keene.
"It is very important that we help our small businesses in this difficult economy, and I'm pleased this funding will allow the Hannah Grimes Center to triple its incubator space so that it can provide additional start-up and early stage businesses with full-time rental space," said Shaheen. "This funding will support local entrepreneurs, help create jobs, and provide a boost for economic activity in Southwestern New Hampshire."
"This funding allows us to nurture more start-up businesses, help create new jobs, and make Hannah Grimes and its programs more sustainable. We are grateful to Senator Shaheen for her work to support small business growth and vitality here in Keene and across the state," said Mary Ann Kristiansen, Executive Director of the Hannah Grimes Center.
The Hannah Grimes Center provides office space in which new and emerging businesses can be launched, developed and graduated. Earlier this year, Shaheen visited the Hannah Grimes Center on her Small Business Tour.
