(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee (SBC), who will lead the Democrats during the confirmation process of Small Business Administration (SBA) nominees, released the following statement after her meeting today with Linda McMahon, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to serve as Small Business Administrator:
“My conversation with Linda McMahon was a productive opportunity to discuss the state of small businesses in New Hampshire and in the United States, and how best to support their growth in the 21st century,” said Senator Shaheen. “Small businesses drive the Granite State’s economy and they are integral to our national economy. As a former small business owner myself and through my role as Ranking Member of the SBC, I know there are real challenges that small business owners face when trying to make their entrepreneurial vision a sustainable reality. During my meeting with Ms. McMahon, I discussed the critical role that Small Business Administration programs have in reducing barriers to financing and federal contracts, ensuring access to credit, and helping small businesses reach foreign markets. I hope that the next Administrator will work to strengthen programs that level the playing field for small business owners, setting them up with the tools for success, and I look forward to the public hearing on Ms. McMahon’s nomination so that she has the opportunity to discuss her vision for America’s small businesses.”
