SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON BIPARTISAN APPROPRIATIONS BILL
Government Funding Bill Now Heads to President for Signature After Clearing Both House, Senate with Bipartisan Support
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, released the following statement after the Senate approved the bipartisan appropriations bill by a vote of 72-26.
“The bill we passed today puts in place a responsible plan to spur economic growth and job creation, protects us from the economic consequences of another government shutdown, and invests in critical New Hampshire priorities. It also cuts wasteful spending in a smart, targeted way, provides New Hampshire small businesses with desperately needed certainty for the future, and represents the kind of bipartisan compromise we need more of in Washington. I hope we can carry the bipartisan momentum behind this bill forward into the future to further promote efforts to create jobs and grow our economy.”
The bill passed this evening includes many key measures championed by Shaheen that will benefit New Hampshire small businesses and families. Earlier today, Shaheen spoke on the Senate floor where she highlighted New Hampshire priorities in the legislation and urged her colleagues to support the bill.
