Shaheen Statement on Bipartisan VA MISSION Act to Improve Veterans Care Being Signed into Law
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement after President Trump signed into law the VA MISSION Act, bipartisan legislation that will improve care and services at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs:
“Those who serve deserve the highest quality care when they return home, and I’m thrilled that we were able to pass this bipartisan legislation to expand access to care in communities for veterans across the nation,” said Shaheen. “This legislation includes a provision I fought for that will ensure veterans are able to access community care if they reside in states like New Hampshire that do not have a full-service VA medical facility, as well as legislation I cosponsored to expand eligibility to the VA family caregiver program. I’m pleased that we were able to work across the aisle to make important investments in the VA and deliver more streamlined care to our veterans. I look forward to working with VA leadership in both New Hampshire and Washington to ensure the successful implementation of this legislation and smooth transition from the Choice Card Program.”
