Shaheen Statement on Confirmation of VA Secretary Nominee Robert Wilkie

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement after voting to confirm Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary nominee Robert Wilkie.

“Mr. Wilkie’s tenure at the Department of Defense has equipped him with the management, personnel and health affairs experience that is necessary to provide the VA with the leadership and direction it requires,” said Shaheen. “I look forward to working with Mr. Wilkie to ensure that delivering a full range of services to our veterans in New Hampshire remains a top priority for the VA, and to building on efforts to reduce waitlist backlogs and improve care in the community. I’m glad to see bipartisan support to confirm this critical position, and I’ll continue to work across the aisle to improve veterans care and care delivery, as well as job training, employment opportunities, and access to housing assistance programs.”
