SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDING

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on this afternoon’s Senate vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security:

“As I’ve said repeatedly in recent days, we should not play politics with critical resources that keep our country safe. Using Department of Homeland Security funding as a political bargaining chip to advance other issues is both reckless and dangerous. Last week I introduced legislation that would fully fund the agency for the remainder of the fiscal year, without any extraneous policy riders attached, and it’s time for us to act on that bill.”
