Shaheen Statement on Historic International Agreement Reached at Paris Summit to Address Climate Change
(Manchester, NH)--Senator Jeanne Shaheen made the following remarks after the announcement that negotiators at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris adopted an agreement to curb climate change. Senator Shaheen participated in the discussions earlier this month as part of a congressional delegation and has been a strong supporter of a broad international agreement to reduce global warming.
"This agreement is an unprecedented achievement and affirms New Hampshire's leadership reducing carbon emissions," said Shaheen. "The United States must capitalize on this success and continue to lead by supporting stronger policies that speed the transition to a clean energy economy. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to start today so we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change, while building strong communities resilient to the changes already underway."
