Shaheen Statement on NH Supreme Court Ruling on Voter Suppression Bill
(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement in response to the New Hampshire Supreme Court upholding a bill that passed the New Hampshire legislature earlier this year, and will suppress turnout among young Granite State voters.
“I’m very disappointed that the New Hampshire Supreme Court made this ruling,” said Shaheen. “New Hampshire, home of the first-in-the-nation primary, is a model for political and civic engagement. Unfortunately, this legislation threatens to dissuade and intimidate Granite Staters from voting and risks tarnishing our state’s revered reputation. I hope the Governor will keep his promise to veto this bill.”
