SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON NINTH ANNIVERSARY OF SEPTEMBER 11th ATTACKS
(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today released the following statement on the anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001:
"Today, we take a moment to reflect upon the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and remember the innocent Americans who lost their lives. For the families in New Hampshire and across the country who lost loved ones in these senseless attacks, surely there is no amount of time that will fully ease their grief, but as the nation comes together in reflection we hope they will take comfort in the knowledge that they remain in the thoughts and prayers of all Americans.
"As we reflect on the events of nine years ago, we must not forget the brave men and women in Afghanistan and around the world who are on the front lines every day to protect our country, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Their service reminds us of the values we fight to defend - freedom, tolerance and mutual respect - that have made America a symbol of hope around the world and that we must all work to preserve for future generations."
