SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MURDER OF OFFICER STEPHEN ARKELL

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the murder of Brentwood Police Officer Stephen Arkell:

“Today, I join with all of New Hampshire to remember the tragic death of Officer Stephen Arkell. Officer Arkell was senselessly murdered while answering the call of duty and bravely protecting his community. We will always be grateful for his heroism and commitment. Today my thoughts are with his wife, two daughters, his fellow officers in the Brentwood Police Department, and the entire Brentwood community.

“During National Police Week, we should be mindful of the incredible sacrifices police officers make every day in the line of duty. It’s an opportunity to also remember the many Granite State officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and keep their loved ones in our thoughts. In New Hampshire and across the country, law enforcement officers take tremendous risks while wearing the badge and we should always recognize and be thankful for their efforts to keep us safe.”
