SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF NSA SURVEILLANCE REFORMS

(Washington, DC) – Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) made the following statement after the Senate passed the USA Freedom Act by a vote of 67-32:

 “I’m pleased that the Senate has finally passed common sense reforms to the Patriot Act that will better protect the privacy of American citizens while maintaining the ability of the intelligence community to protect our nation. The USA Freedom Act strikes an important balance between national security and civil liberties.”
