Shaheen Statement on Passing of Longtime NH Political Reporter John DiStaso
(Manchester, NH) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement in response to the passing of longtime New Hampshire political reporter, John DiStaso:
“I am heartbroken by John’s passing and offer my sincerest condolences to John’s wife, Diane, and their two children, as well as to his WMUR colleagues, members of the New Hampshire press and all who knew and loved him,” said Shaheen. “Over the years, John and I had countless conversations about the most pressing issues facing our state. He was ferociously devoted to his work and we are all better for it. I can’t imagine there is a New Hampshire primary candidate who ever made it out of the state without being grilled by John. He had Granite Staters’ trust, as he worked diligently to bring the most coveted and important news into their living rooms. The “dean” of the New Hampshire political press corps will be remembered and revered by all who knew, respected and learned from him. He will be deeply missed.”
