Shaheen Statement on President Obama's Nomination of Emily Gray Rice as U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire
**In June, Shaheen Recommended Ms. Rice to the President**
(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) today released the following statement after President Obama announced the nomination of Emily Gray Rice to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire:
"I want to congratulate Emily Gray Rice on her nomination to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire, a distinction for which she is more than worthy. Emily’s leadership in the New Hampshire legal community make her exceptionally qualified for this position. I recommended Emily for the position of U.S. Attorney because of her background as a legal professor at the University of New Hampshire Law School, her work as a trial-lawyer and her extensive career in the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. I have no doubt she will work tirelessly to fulfill the responsibilities of this post. I am thrilled that Emily has been chosen by President Obama, and I look forward to her speedy confirmation."
Upon her confirmation by the U.S. Senate, Ms. Rice would replace New Hampshire’s acting U.S. Attorney, Donald Feith. In June, Senator Shaheen wrote a letter to President Obama in support of Rice’s nomination.
