Shaheen Statement on Revised NAFTA Trade Agreement

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement regarding revisions announced by the Trump administration to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA):

“Trade plays a critical role in our economy, supporting job creation and allowing small businesses in New Hampshire and throughout the nation to grow. While I will be reviewing the details of this agreement, I was encouraged to see some positive improvements that will help New Hampshire’s dairy farmers and small businesses,” said Shaheen. “The President has more work to do to de-escalate the trade war, specifically regarding steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, but I’m hopeful that this new agreement is a sign the administration will embrace international trade and work more closely with our allies moving forward.”
