Shaheen Statement on Senate Confirmation of Christopher Wray to Serve as FBI Director
(Washington, DC)—U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the lead Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee for Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies which has jurisdiction over the FBI, issued the following statement after voting to confirm Christopher Wray to serve as FBI Director:
“The independence of the FBI has never been more important,” said Senator Shaheen. “I was encouraged by Mr. Wray’s testimony during his confirmation hearing and appreciated his commitment to the rule of law. In his new role, Director Wray must be unwavering in upholding the integrity of the FBI and firmly resist any outside attempts to meddle in investigations, particularly the on-going probes into Russian interference in our democracy. I look forward to working with Director Wray to ensure the FBI upholds its motto: ‘Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity.’”
