SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON SENATE CONSIDERATION OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY LEGISLATION
(Washington, D.C.) – Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement this afternoon after the full Senate officially began consideration of her bipartisan energy efficiency legislation. The Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act that was introduced with Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) will help create jobs, lower pollution, and save taxpayers money by encouraging efficient energy consumption.
“Efficiency is the cheapest and fastest way to address our country’s energy needs and passing our bill will be good for our economy and our environment; it will help create jobs across the country, lower pollution, and save taxpayers money. Today represents the culmination of three years of bipartisan work to craft the most effective piece of energy legislation that has the greatest chance of passing both the House and Senate and becoming law. I’m excited to continue working in a bipartisan fashion to finally see this goal become a reality.”
