Shaheen Statement on Senator Corker’s Announcement That He Will Not Seek Reelection

(Washington, DC)—Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement after Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, announced that he will not seek reelection:

“I was disappointed to learn that Senator Corker will not seek reelection,” said Shaheen. “As Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Corker has demonstrated a deep commitment to our national security and furthering important foreign policy goals. I’ve particularly admired his dedication to reducing human trafficking around the globe. Senator Corker has always been a man of his word, who has been willing to reach across the aisle to address tough issues. I look forward to working with him through the remainder of his term as we address the many challenges our country faces here and around the world.”
