SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON THE EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SEPTEMBER 11TH ATTACKS

(Washington, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today released the following statement on the anniversary of the attacks on September 11:

"On this day of national reflection, we honor the memory of the innocent Americans who lost their lives on September 11th. The families, in New Hampshire and nationwide, who lost loved ones in these senseless attacks are in my thoughts and prayers. September 11, 2001 was one of the saddest days in our nation's history and one that we can never forget.

"On this day of remembrance, we also honor the men and women who are on the front lines fighting terrorism and defending our nation's freedom, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Our nation is grateful for the sacrifice our service members and their families make every day to defend and protect our country at home and abroad."
