Shaheen Statement on the Passing of Commissioner Van McLeod

(Manchester, N.H.) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement on the passing of New Hampshire Department of Cultural Resources Commissioner Van McLeod:

“Commissioner Van McLeod was a longtime friend and a devoted public servant whose dedication to fostering New Hampshire’s arts and culture made our state more vibrant. A pillar of the creative community in the Granite State, Van believed that art and theater transcend, change perspectives and build bridges within communities and across borders. When I was Governor, Van and I participated in a Cultural Trade Mission to England and Ireland that promoted cultural exchanges with New Hampshire businesses and artists. His strong support for trade missions helped our arts and cultural communities flourish at home while building relationships abroad. I am very grateful for Van’s incredible contributions to the Granite State. My thoughts are with his family today.”
