Shaheen Statement on the Passing of Former Keene Mayor Pat Russell
(Manchester, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on the passing of former Keene Mayor, Pat Russell:
“Pat was one of the first women I met in politics and was a dear friend and mentor. New Hampshire has lost one of its finest public servants. Throughout her career, she broke down barriers for women in public service and was an inspiration to many. She was a tremendously effective advocate for her community and always spoke up for those who didn’t have a voice. She was one of New Hampshire’s strongest advocates for people with disabilities and led important efforts to improve state services. I always appreciated Pat’s wisdom, candor and inner strength. My thoughts are with her family today, especially her five children.”
As governor, Senator Shaheen appointed Pat Russell to serve on the state Liquor Commission. Russell’s distinguished career in public service also included six terms in the state House.
