SHAHEEN STATEMENT ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT

(Washington, D.C.) –U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement after President Obama signed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) into law this afternoon. 

“The Violence Against Women Act is a proven tool in supporting victims but also social service providers and law enforcement officials who combat the epidemic of domestic violence in America. This legislation will bring much needed services to millions of domestic violence victims across the country.  While I regret that it took us so long to reauthorize this legislation, I’m proud we were able to get this done and I am grateful that the bill is now the law of the land.”
