SHAHEEN: The President is not above the law or the Constitution

(Washington, DC)—U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) issued the following statement after President Trump suggested in a tweet that the November elections be postponed:  

“The President is not above the law or the Constitution,” said Shaheen. “There’s going to be an election on November 3rd and the President needs to stop spreading election misinformation, particularly about mail-in voting. It’s imperative that Republicans join Democrats in condemning this reckless rhetoric from the President that undermines the very foundation of our democracy. Further, the President needs to work constructively with Congress in a bipartisan way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 so that our economy can fully recover and life can return to some semblance of normal.”
