SHAHEEN TO HOST FORUM ON CONFRONTING SOCIAL CHALLENGES THROUGH INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY SERVICE

(Washington, D.C.) -U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen announced today that she will host a discussion on the need to advance social innovation and expand community service in New Hampshire on Friday, December 11 in Concord.  Shaheen will bring together leaders from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to share ideas on how to strengthen communities and learn about resources available to communities through the Edward M. Kennedy Service America Act.  Sonal Shah, Director of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation, will travel to New Hampshire for the event and participate in the first panel discussion.

"Our nation's history has shown us that by working together we can confront society's greatest challenges," said Shaheen. "This event will bring organizations from across New Hampshire together to share ideas, and learn about funding opportunities to support community service and social innovation projects throughout the state."

Members of the nonprofit, philanthropic, business and government sectors will have an opportunity to learn about resources in the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Actto confront pressing social challenges.
