SHAHEEN TO SUPPORT FY11 BUDGET COMPROMISE

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen announced her intention to support H.R. 1473, the compromise bill funding the remainder of FY 2011 appropriations and released the following statement:

“This legislation is a necessary compromise that begins to tackle our deficit by reducing spending, while still funding critical investments in our economy. It is unfortunate that the House demanded Senate floor votes on their ideological proposals to eliminate funding for women’s health programs as their price for averting a government shutdown. But now that this battle is behind us, we can return to the necessary business of supporting job growth and addressing our long-term deficit and debt.”
