SHAHEEN: TODAY WE HONOR AMERICA’S BRAVE ARMED FORCES, PAST AND PRESENT

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today released the below statement in recognition of Memorial Day:

"Today, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace and freedom for our country.  We owe all those who have died while in service to our nation our eternal gratitude.

"As we remember those who lost their lives in service to our nation, we are also reminded of those serving today in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the many other places across the globe where our courageous troops proudly represent the very best America has to offer.  As we gather with our families this holiday weekend, let us keep those serving overseas in our hearts and pray for their safe return.

"On Memorial Day, we honor those soldiers who went before us, those who continue to serve us, and America's military families."
