Tomorrow in Portsmouth, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen will highlight her bipartisan efforts to secure an extension for the Special Immigrant Visa program for Iraqis and Afghans who have risked their lives by serving as interpreters for the U.S. military. Shaheen will tour the National Visa Center in Portsmouth tomorrow, December 3 and will hold a press availability following the tour at 2:00 p.m. to discuss her ongoing work with Senator John McCain for a longer-term extension of the program. Please note, the tour is closed to press.
Later, Shaheen will join Governor Maggie Hassan and Senator Kelly Ayotte in Concord at 4:30 p.m. for the swearing-in ceremony of Peter Burdett as New Hampshire’s Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army. Shaheen was an early supporter of Burdett’s Civilian Aide nomination, and in her remarks she will highlight his strong qualifications and experience. Civilian Aides serve an important role within the Army as a vital link between the Army and the communities for which they serve.
