TOMORROW IN DURHAM AND CONCORD: SHAHEEN TO HOST EARTH DAY ROUNDTABLES ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Earlier, Shaheen to attend Prospect Mountain High School FIRST Robotics Team Championship Send-Off Ceremony

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will host an Earth Day roundtable discussion to highlight the impact of climate change on New Hampshire at the US Forest Service, Northeast Research Station in Durham, tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Shaheen will be joined by officials from the US Forest Service, University of New Hampshire faculty, and other environmental stakeholders and will highlight her efforts to fight climate change, including her bipartisan energy efficiency legislation. Later, Shaheen will commemorate Earth Day at a second roundtable in partnership with National Wildlife Federation officials and local sportsmen in Concord at 2:30 p.m.

In the morning, Shaheen will attend a send-off ceremony and pep rally for the Prospect Mountain High School FIRST Robotics Team who will be competing at the 2014 FIRST Championship in Missouri. The ceremony will take place at Prospect Mountain High School in Alton at 9:15 a.m. Shaheen will wish the competitors luck and highlight the importance of programs like FIRST Robotics which promote education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Last year, Shaheen introduced legislation to promote STEM education opportunities and help students obtain the skills necessary for high-tech jobs of the future.
