TOMORROW IN SALEM: SHAHEEN HOSTS ROUNDTABLE ON NEW HAMPSHIRE HEROIN AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG EPIDEMIC

Tomorrow in Salem, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will join law enforcement officials, including New Hampshire Attorney General Joe Foster and Salem Police Chief Paul Donovan, and members of the drug treatment community for a roundtable discussion at the Salem Police Department at 2:00 p.m on New Hampshire’s heroin and prescription drug addiction epidemic. At the roundtable, participants will discuss the rising heroin and prescription opioid abuse in New Hampshire and ways to combat the epidemic. Recently, Shaheen called for federal investments to assist New Hampshire law enforcement and healthcare providers to fight what has become a top public health issue in the Granite State and called on the Attorney General Eric Holder to take steps to partner with local officials to fight this epidemic.
Earlier on Friday, Shaheen will tour Exeter-based manufacturer Cobham Antenna Systems at 9:15 a.m. where she will be briefed on the company’s products and capabilities before discussing her efforts to promote domestic manufacturing and job creation. Shaheen will host a press availability following the tour.
Later on Friday, Shaheen will go to the 2014 Made in NH Expo in Manchester at 3:30 p.m. The annual exhibition showcases the wide variety of quality products and services made in the Granite State.
On Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Shaheen will join other New Hampshire officials for a Welcome Home Ceremony for Vietnam Veterans at White Mountains Regional High School.
