TOMORROW: SHAHEEN TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE CALL WITH NEW HAMPSHIRE FIREFIGHTERS ON IMPORTANCE OF HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDING

Call comes as Department of Homeland Security funding is set to expire at the end of the month

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Dave Lang, President of Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire, and Chief Kenneth Erickson of the Laconia Fire Department will host a press conference call tomorrow, February 5 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss the importance of fully funding the Department of Homeland Security in the interest of New Hampshire’s public safety. Shaheen has repeatedly called for Congress to pass a clean bill, free of extraneous policy riders, to fully fund the department through the remainder of the fiscal year as the current House Republican legislation would be vetoed, resulting in an agency shut down. Last week, Shaheen and Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) introduced legislation to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security through the remainder of the fiscal year.

Media interested in talking part in the call should contact Nick Brown at Nick_Brown@shaheen.senate.gov for call information.
