TUESDAY IN MANCHESTER AND TILTON: SHAHEEN TO HIGHLIGHT IMPACT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FUNDING LAPSE AT LOCAL BUSINESSES
Department of Homeland Security funding set to expire at the end of the month
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will visit AssureTec in Manchester at 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17 to meet with company officials and discuss the impact a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding lapse would have on the company and national security. AssureTec develops and deploys high quality ID authentication solutions that help provide security at critical locations from borders to nuclear facilities. Currently, DHS funding is set to expire February 27.
Later, Shaheen will visit Sealite in Tilton at 2:20 p.m. where she will receive a briefing from company officials and tour Sealite’s manufacturing and distribution facility. Since 2010, Sealite has been manufacturing maritime navigation aids at their Tilton location. Sealite contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and would be directly impacted by a Department shutdown. Late last month, Senator Shaheen along with Senator Mikulski (D-MD) introduced a complete, clean bill, free of extraneous riders to fund DHS operations through the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2015.
Media planning to attend should RSVP to Nick Brown at Nick_Brown@shaheen.senate.gov.
