Wednesday evening in Portsmouth: Shaheen to offer remarks at Truman National Security Project Screening of 'The Burden'

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will offer remarks to the Business and Industry Association (BIA) of New Hampshire in Manchester on Wednesday, February 18 at 12:00 p.m. Shaheen will update New Hampshire business leaders on her legislative priorities in the new Congress. Following her remarks, Shaheen will take questions from the audience.

Later, Shaheen will host a roundtable with New Hampshire first responders and law enforcement officials at the Nashua Police Department at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the negative consequences of a Department of Homeland Security funding lapse. With Department of Homeland Security funding set to expire at the end of the month, Shaheen will highlight the local impact of a Department funding halt. Late last month, Senator Shaheen, along with Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), introduced a complete, clean bill, free of extraneous riders to fund DHS operations through the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2015.

In the evening, Shaheen will offer welcoming remarks in Portsmouth at 5:30 p.m. at the screening of Truman National Security Project’s The Burden: Fossil Fuels, the Military, & National Security. Shaheen will discuss the importance of energy independence to national security.
