Shaheen Discusses Legislative Wins and Priorities for New Hampshire During New England Council’s Capitol Hill Report
(Manchester, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen spoke at an event hosted by the New England Council to discuss her legislative wins for New Hampshire and previewed ongoing priorities, including lowering health care costs, addressing New Hampshire’s affordable housing crisis and strengthening U.S. national security. The fireside chat was moderated by James T. Brett, President of the New England Council, which is the nation’s oldest regional business organization, comprised of businesses and organizations across the six New England states. Later, Shaheen stopped by the WZID studio to join the 26th annual WZID Christmas Is For Kids Radiothon. You can find photos from both events here and watch the discussion in full here.
“We have our work cut for us between now and the end of this session, but I’m working to push through legislation that will make a real difference to folks in New Hampshire. That includes supplemental disaster aid funding for FEMA and an extension of Affordable Care Act premium tax credits that make health care affordable for millions of Americans,” said Senator Shaheen. “I was glad to join the New England Council today to discuss these efforts and ways to continue supporting our region’s economy and businesses through my work in Washington.”
Later, Shaheen stopped by the WZID studio to join the 26th WZID Christmas Is For Kids Radiothon, which is the final year of this annual event.
“I’ve been honored to join this event a number of times over the years, and I’ve seen how much hard work goes into making it a success,” said Senator Shaheen. “The work that Waypoint does to support vulnerable Granite Starters when they need it the most, not just during the holiday season but year-round, is so important because it gives people a lifeline and a chance to get back on their feet.”
