Shaheen Statement on Passage of the Continuing Resolution to Keep the Government Open, Provide Disaster Funding to Support New Hampshire Farmers

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Subcommittee, today issued the following statement after Congress passed a continuing resolution that will keep the government funded through March 14, 2025, and provide $110 billion in disaster supplemental funding to help farmers and communities:

“I’m relieved we came to a deal to keep the government open and provide disaster funding for communities and farmers. It’s unfortunate that a billionaire and President-elect Trump came in at the 11th hour to reject the deal Democrats and Republicans had spent months working on that would have not only kept the government open and provided disaster aid, but also would have funded critical services that Granite State families rely on and reformed pharmacy benefit managers that are responsible for skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs.

“In the future, I hope that we can get back to this bipartisan agreement that included provisions to improve our health care system, support workforce development and provide for our seniors.

“Americans want us to work together to make their lives better. I’m glad we’ve worked to avoid a disastrous government shutdown, and moving forward, I hope both parties can work together to avert such unnecessary crises in the future.”
