Shaheen Visits L3Harris to Highlight Contributions to the Granite State Economy, U.S. National Security and Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom
(Londonderry, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the U.S Armed Services and Appropriations Committees, visited L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions in Londonderry to receive an update on the critical systems the company manufactures for the U.S. military and to tour the factory. At the end of the tour, Shaheen spoke with employees about their operations, which manufacture night vision technology for the U.S. military. L3Harris is one of many New Hampshire companies that help bolster our national defense priorities, and that Shaheen helped to secure funding for in the Senate’s national security supplemental legislation signed into law in April. “Investments in companies like L3Harris not only bolster the Granite State’s economy, but also directly contribute to the safety and security of the United States and our allies,” said Senator Shaheen. “I was glad to visit L3Harris’ factory in Londonderry today to learn more about how funds from the bipartisan national security supplemental are being used right here in the Granite State to replenish our industrial base.”
Senator Shaheen is a leader in the U.S. Senate to bolster the domestic defense industrial base to ensure U.S. troops have the cutting-edge equipment they need to defend the nation and deter adversaries. Shaheen has long advocated for additional aid to Ukraine and comprehensive legislation to address our national security interests, including funding to replenish the U.S. industrial base. Shaheen also leads bipartisan legislation, the American Acquisitions, Readiness, and Military Stockpiles (ARMS) Act, that would give the Department of Defense (DoD) enhanced procurement authorities to quickly refill American defense stockpiles after the President provides aid to an ally or partner attacked by a foreign adversary, including replenishing America’s stockpiles after lethal aid was sent to Ukraine for defense against Russia. Earlier this year, Shaheen penned an editorial in the Boston Globe, urging her colleagues to support this agreement and continue to supply Ukraine with the aid they need to continue to repel Putin’s illegal invasion.
In the fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act and FY24 defense appropriations bill, Senator Shaheen successfully included the authorization for $7.5 million in additional funding for continued research and development of the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular (ENVG-B), helping to invest in New Hampshire’s night vision manufacturing industrial base and ensuring our soldiers have the technology they need to maintain a decisive advantage on the battlefield.
